Zac and his family have lived off grid since 2012 after leaving Saint Louis and moving to the Ozark mountains in Northwest Arkansas. Today, they provide all of their energy needs using solar and wind power while all of their water is provided by rain collection and well usage.
For waste management, they use humanure. Home heating on their homestead is provided by wood heat. Their food comes from the gardens they tend and the animals they harvest. They raise sheep, chickens and quail and trade with their neighbors for other things like milk and sourdough bread.
Aside from homesteading and helping others detach and live a more sustainable lifestyle, they also run the business PerfectPickler.com which helps people learn the lost art of Vegetable Fermentation at home.
